Oregon is set to receive 3.9 billion dollars from The American Rescue Plan (ARP).

The U.S. Department of Treasury broke down the numbers of how much each city and county will get.

"With this funding, communities hit hard by COVID-19 will able to return to a semblance of normalcy; they’ll be able to rehire teachers, firefighters and other essential workers – and to help small businesses reopen safely,” ~Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen.

By metropolitan city:

  • Portland: nearly $208 million

  • Beaverton: nearly $17 million

  • Gresham: $25 million

  • Hillsboro: $18 million

  • Tigard: $7.5 million

  • Salem: $34 million

  • Eugene: almost $36 million

  • Medford: $18 million

  • Ashland: more than $4.5 million

  • Grants Pass: $9 million

  • Vancouver, WA: $33 million

By county:

  • Multnomah County: nearly $158 million

  • Clackamas County: $81 million

  • Washington County: almost $17 million

  • Yamhill County: almost $21 million

  • Marion County: $67.5 million

  • Lane County: $74 million

  • Jackson County: almost $43 million

The American Rescue Plan makes health insurance more affordable for over 425,000 Oregon citizens and millions of Americans.

A Kaiser Family Foundation analysis estimates that 92% of people who buy their own health insurance will qualify for a subsidy. Its findings also indicate that 1.4 million uninsured people are now newly eligible for the subsidized marketplace coverage.

Kaiser pegs the average savings as ranging from $33 a month for those with incomes under 150% of the poverty level to $213 a month for those with incomes between 400% and 600% of the federal poverty level.

Estimates by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) say premiums after the new savings will decrease, on average, by $50 per person per month, or $85 per policy per month. Four out of five enrollees should be able find a plan for $10 or less a month after premium tax credits, CMS says, and more than 50% will be able to find a “Silver” (or mid-level) plan for $10 or less.
